PLEASANTON, Calif. — Safeway has launched a Facebook application that lets shoppers post reviews of its Open Nature private-label products.

The retailer promoted the service on its Facebook wall this week.

“Maureen M. gave Open Nature Chicken Pomodoro 5 stars in her review,” Safeway wrote. “See her review and write your own.”

The app lets users review products in six categories: deli, frozen, dairy, bakery, pantry and meat. Open Nature pizza, ice cream, cranberry juice and granola are among the products open for review.

Once users click on a product, they see a product description. They then can write a review, and give the product a rating of 0 to 5 stars.
