Wonderful Halos Launches “Good Choice, Kid.” Campaign

The ads celebrate kids who make good and healthy choices with Wonderful Halos and resist giving into naughty temptations.

Wonderful Halos has started the 2016–2017 season with its largest crop ever. The company has also launched a $30 million new advertising campaign, themed “Good Choice, Kid.” The ads celebrate kids who make good and healthy choices with Wonderful Halos and resist giving into naughty temptations, such as spending the night in a creepy, doll-infested mansion, swapping snacks with a scary witch, running away to join the circus or breaking into a construction site. As one might expect, the children making poor choices end up in precarious, yet hilarious situations, while those skipping such temptation make the “good choice” of snacking on Wonderful Halos. The television spots will air on national network and cable stations.

“Wonderful Halos are a good choice both parents and kids can agree on,” says Adam Cooper, vice president of marketing for Wonderful Halos. “Parents love Halos because they’re an ideal, healthy snack full of ‘pure goodness,’ and kids love our palm-sized mandarins because they’re easy to peel, seedless and bursting with sweet flavor. Wonderful Halos has been the No. 1 mandarin brand every year since launching in 2013 and we are more than 70 percent bigger than the next largest mandarin brand. Our breakthrough ‘Good Choice, Kid.’ campaign allows us to maintain that top standing and even expand our market leadership, while celebrating kids who make the smart choice of enjoying a healthy snack like Wonderful Halos.”

Kids will be encouraged to “stick” to their good choices by collecting Halos fruit stickers of all 50 states. The stickers, which feature unique landmarks and scenery from all of the states, can be proudly displayed on a free “Halos United States of Pure Goodness” printable map. These sticker collection sheets can be downloaded online and are available at select retailers, so families can collect all 50 states together for the chance to win a sweet surprise.

Later this holiday season, Wonderful Halos will bring festive cheer throughout the country to select malls by partnering with the “Adventure to Santa” interactive journey. Halos fans will be able to meet Santa and receive free Halos coupons.  

In addition to the new television ads, the integrated campaign will be amplified by print, out-of-home, national FSIs, in-store POS, digital and PR to market the “pure goodness” and uniquely delicious taste of the sweet, seedless and easy-to-peel fruit.

Wonderful Halos are in season from November through April and available in 2-, 3- and 5-pound bags and 5-pound boxes in product aisles of grocery, mass and club stores nationwide. To give the “good choice” gift this season, a brand new festive 7-pound holiday-themed Halos box will also be available in stores this Thanksgiving through Christmas, alongside seasonal POS in-store.
