PITTSBURGH – Along with running their own social media campaigns, retailers have begun to partner with consumer packaged goods companies to build a following on Facebook and Twitter.
Giant Eagle and Gillette, for instance, just concluded an innovative Twitter campaign. Beginning at 11:30 a.m. on June 3, the retailer tweeted various questions about Gillette and shaving. The first five people who tweeted back the right answer to @Giant_Eagle, using #GEGillette won a new Gillette Fusion ProGlide shaving kit.
Giant Eagle tweeted a different question every 30 minutes until 4 p.m. A total of 50 kits were awarded. "Test your Gillette/shaving trivia for chances to win,” Giant Eagle tweeted just before the contest began.
Among the questions were:
• Which part of the man’s face has the highest number of hair follicles?
• At what age are men’s beards usually at their thickest?
• When was King Gillette's safety razor patented?
