SCARBOROUGH, Maine — Hannaford has launched its sixth-annual “Design a Reusable Shopping Bag” contest for kids.
Children ages 7-13 are invited to design a bag that will be sold in Hannaford stores in 2014. Entries will be accepted through May 25.
Hannaford has asked kids to draw a picture or come up with a slogan that shows a good way to save energy.
“Maybe it will be a picture of you conserving electricity, water, or gasoline or coming up with a slogan to encourage our customers to save energy and help our planet earth,” Hannaford writes in promotional materials.

Applications are available on hannaford.com/bagcontest. Submissions will be posted at Hannaford stores for public viewing.
The winning designs will be announced in September.
