Colbourn, who joined Safeway in 2011 as group vice president, loyalty marketing, will oversee the company’s portfolio of loyalty marketing programs and customer analytics. He will report directly to Diane Dietz, executive vice president and chief marketing officer.

“We are fortunate to someone of Keith’s track record and experience taking on this important and expanded scope of responsibility,” said Dietz in a statement. “His demonstrated leadership skills and expertise have been integral to Safeway being well-positioned as a front-runner in the digital loyalty marketing space.”

Prior to joining Safeway, Colbourn spent three years at Dunnhumby USA, a data analytics and loyalty marketing firm that is 50% owned by Kroger Co. Before that, he held leadership roles at online retailer FreshDirect in New York and The Loyalty Group/Air Miles Rewards Program in Toronto.
