SALEM, N.H. — Aldi’s first store in New Hampshire is scheduled to open here next month, according to reports.

The Batavia, Ill.-based company said last year it was planning to enter the state. The Boston Globe reported Friday that the store, at 541 South Broadway, would hold its grand opening March 1. An Aldi spokesperson could not be reached for further comment.

The location is about 30 miles north of Boston, just across the Massachusetts border, and is also just a few miles from the Tewksbury, Mass., headquarters of Demoulas Market Basket. Other food retailers in the Salem area include Stop & Shop, Shaw's and Wal-Mart.

The limited-assortment discount chain, a division of global operator Adli Group, Muelheim, Germany, currently has about 1,215 stores in 32 states, generating annual U.S. sales of an estimated $7.3 billion.
