CHICAGO — J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. said Wednesday it plans to close its banks at 49 of the 52 Dominick's stores in which it operates branches — the same day TCF National Bank said it would close 37 of its 155 branches in Jewel-Osco stores at the end of March.

CHICAGO — J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. said Wednesday it plans to close its banks at 49 of the 52 Dominick's stores in which it operates branches — the same day TCF National Bank said it would close 37 of its 155 branches in Jewel-Osco stores at the end of March — according to published reports here.

Ironically, the three supermarket branches Chase will retain are in three of the four Dominick's that Jewel-Osco has acquired — stores that don't have other Chase outlets nearby.

The reports said the accounts of affected customers have been transferred to nearby Chase branches, most of which are less than a mile from the Dominick's locations, and the bank has found jobs for the 200 employees affected by the branch closures.
