BASHAS' NAMES PROULX PRESIDENT AND BUHR CFO
e Proulx, chief operating officer, has added the title of president, and Jim Buhr has been named chief financial officer and senior vice president, finance. Proulx (pronounced Prew) succeeds Wayne C. Manning, who disclosed plans to retire last summer after 37 years with Bashas', including the last 16 as president. Proulx, 55, was named executive vice president and COO in May 2003, and has been with the company for more than 37 years. Prior to his elevation last May, he was senior vice president, retail operations. Buhr, 55, succeeds Darl Anderson, who left Bashas' to serve a mission in Chile for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Buhr joined Bashas' in 1986, and has been corporate controller and vice president of accounting since 1994 following 10 years with Target Corp.
WINN-DIXIE NAMES SELLERS TO NEW OPERATIONS POST
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Winn-Dixie Stores here has named Mark Sellers to the newly created role of group vice president, retail operations, as part of a management reorganization. Previously, he was the division president (now called manager) of South Florida. Sellers will report to Frank Lazaran, president and chief executive officer, and will be responsible for supervising the managers of Winn-Dixie's U.S. division in their regular store operations. Winn-Dixie promoted Randy Rambo to succeed Sellers as division manager of South Florida. He will report to Sellers. Rambo was the South Florida retail operations superintendent. The company also re-assigned John Sheehan from senior vice president of operations to work on special store operations projects. While the company searches for someone to fill the vacated senior vice president position, all corporate store operations functions will be supervised by Lazaran.
AFFILIATED FOODS SOUTHWEST REALIGNS MANAGEMENT
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Affiliated Foods Southwest, a cooperative wholesaler and supermarket operator based here, has promoted John R. Mills to president, chief administrative officer and vice chairman of the board, and G. Wayne Hall to president and chief operations officer as part of an overall management realignment. Along with Jerry Davis, chairman and chief executive officer, they will serve on an executive committee created to oversee daily operations of the distribution center and Affiliated's subsidiary companies. The company said the management realignment -- its first in eight years -- was prompted by the sales growth of the company in the past year. AFS also has created a senior management committee, consisting of Ron Rivers, executive vice president, information systems; Al Miller, executive vice president, advertising, promotions and public relations; Clint Caldwell, director of perishable operations; and Steve Wheetley, director of special projects. In addition, Tom Pittman was promoted to director of purchasing, and Randy Arceneaux was elevated to director of Louisiana operations.
7-ELEVEN NAMES DEVENING TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
DALLAS -- 7-Eleven here has elected R. Randolph Devening to the board of directors. Formerly the vice chairman and chief financial officer and a director of Fleming Cos., Devening brings over 40 years of management experience to the company. He will also be on the board's audit committee. Devening most recently was chairman, president and chief executive officer at Foodbrands America, Oklahoma City.
