BALTIMORE, Md. -- Famous Fixins here, a manufacturer and distributor of celebrity food products, has announced plans to develop a cereal line with Baltimore Orioles third baseman Cal Ripken, Jr.

The line will commemorate Ripken's 1995 major league baseball record of consecutive games played.

According to Jason Bauer, president of Famous Fixins, the newly launched limited-edition cereal box, called "Cal's Classic O's," will be on supermarket shelves until the end of the 1999. In addition, 2,632 lucky consumers will find hidden collectible cards in cereal boxes commemorating Ripken's streak. Suggested retail price for the cereal is between $3.49 and $3.99.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Kelly & Cal Ripken, Jr. Foundation.

"Based on Cal's popularity and the success of similar type programs, we expect to create a buying frenzy in the marketplace," said Bauer.
