Add another grocer to what has become a long list of retailers cutting prices for the summer as Giant Eagle launched its “Deals for Days” campaign on Thursday.

Prices on more than 1,000 items have been cut and will remain low during the summer, Halloween, and while the November and December holiday season plays out.

Giant Eagle said shoppers will save an estimated $7.5 million during the two-month summer program.

“Right now, [the customers] are telling us that they need more ways to save on the products that matter most to them,” said Brian Ferrier, senior vice president of Merchandising for Giant Eagle. “We’re confident that we have created meaningful savings across the store.”

Walgreens, Target, Aldi, and Amazon Fresh have all announced cutbacks in prices over the last couple of weeks.
