With its new “Meal of the Week” program, Inserra Supermarkets aims to help its shoppers take the guesswork out of putting nutritious, home-cooked meals on their dinner tables. On a weekly basis, stores will feature a different, easy-to-prepare recipe and have all of the ingredients located in a refrigerated case. Inserra, which owns and operates 22 ShopRites in N.J. and N.Y., has introduced the program in more than a dozen of its stores with plans for further expansion later this year.

Recent recipes have included chicken and poblano fajitas, roasted chicken with bulgur salad and London broil with green beans.

“Our shoppers are increasingly mindful of making healthier food choices for themselves and their families,” says Lindsey Inserra, vice president of health and wellness of the family-owned grocery chain. “Busy schedules can get in the way of putting a home-cooked meal on the dinner table though. It happens to all of us. Our ‘Meal of the Week’ recipes and one-stop system aims to change that by having everything you need for a complete meal at your fingertips.”

Inserra Supermarkets has an in-store registered dietitian program at ten of its stores. The program is designed to provide shoppers with a free nutrition and wellness resource while they are shopping or planning meals. In addition, each month, the dietitians host a LiveRight calendar of events, featuring nutrition counseling and health screenings as well as cooking classes for adults and kids, among other offerings. “We are proud to play an integral role in educating our shoppers of all ages on the importance of healthy eating,” added Inserra.

Inserra ShopRite locations in New Jersey include Bayonne, Columbia Park, Emerson, Fair Lawn, Hackensack, Hillsdale, Hoboken, Jersey City, Lodi, Lyndhurst, New Milford, Northvale, Ramsey, Palisades Park, Wayne, Wallington and West Milford. In New York, locations include Garnerville, New City, Stony Point, Tallman, and West Nyack.
