PLEASANTON, Calif. — As retailers kick Earth Day promotions into high gear, Safeway is offering discounts on its Bright Green private-label line.
Through April 27, the chain will offer a buy-two, get-one-free special on the entire line. “This is an easy and great way to kick-start your spring-cleaning, save money and do something better for the earth and your home environment,” Safeway states in promotional materials.
Introduced in November 2008, Bright Green is Safeway’s line of earth-friendly home care products that offers solutions in paper, cleaning, dish and laundry, trash bags, lighting and water bottles. Selections include: Energy Star-approved light bulbs that use only 18 watts of power to generate 75 watts of light, and an all-purpose cleaner that’s biodegradable, phosphate-free and not tested on animals.
Each item in the Bright Green line has been evaluated by a third-party environmental, sustainability and food-quality certification agency: Scientific Certification Systems. SCS reviewed the Bright Green products individually for naturally derived and biodegradable ingredients, post-consumer recycled content and energy efficiency.
All Bright Green products have been formulated to be as effective as leading national brands of traditional household cleaning, laundry, paper and lighting products. Bright Green products are sold exclusively at the Safeway family of stores, including Safeway, Vons, Pavilions, Dominick’s, Carrs/Safeway, Randalls, Tom Thumb and Genuardi’s.
