Safeway's Lewis Recognized by Savoy
PLEASANTON, Calif. — Valerie D. Lewis, senior corporate counsel at Safeway here, was named to Savoy Magazine’s list of the “Top 100 Most Influential Blacks in Corporate America,” the supermarket chain said Monday.

PLEASANTON, Calif. — Valerie D. Lewis, senior corporate counsel at Safeway here, was named to Savoy Magazine’s list of the “Top 100 Most Influential Blacks in Corporate America,” the supermarket chain said Monday.
This list, featured in the magazine's spring 2010 issue, recognizes those African Americans who have made a significant positive impact on the profession, the corporate world and their communities.
Lewis has been a member of Safeway’s legal team for more than 14 years, and has corporate legal responsibility for food, health, safety, consumer protection and labeling issues, environmental and other regulatory compliance and litigation.
She is also integrally involved in the development of policy and training, and is responsible for implementation of and compliance with consumer, corporate and intellectual technology privacy issues.
Lewis is also a founding member and current chair of the Safeway African American Leadership Network.
