CHICAGO — SymphonyIRI Group has appointed Andrew Appel president and chief executive officer to succeed John G. Freeland who moves to an interim role as executive vice chairman.

CHICAGO — SymphonyIRI Group has appointed Andrew Appel president and chief executive officer to succeed John G. Freeland who moves to an interim role as executive vice chairman. Freeland will remain on the board of directors until his retirement later this year.

Appel has held a number of senior leadership positions with professional services firms including chief operating officer at Aon, CEO of Aon Consulting and CEO of reinsurance broker Aon Benfield.  Appel was also a senior partner at McKinsey & Co.

“We are extremely pleased to have Andrew join SymphonyIRI to lead this next phase of our growth,” said Lawrence Benjamin, chairman of SymphonyIRI, in a statement.
