LOS ANGELES — The Food Industry Management Program at the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business said it has named Karl Schroeder as food industry executive of the year.
Schroeder, president of the Northern California division of Safeway, Pleasanton, Calif., graduated from the USC program in 1990 when he was a district manager in Phoenix. He will be honored at the Food Industry Management's annual graduation banquet on April 17.
Robert Hermanns, director of the program, said USC presents the executive of the annual award to a food industry executive who has shown extraordinary leadership while producing exceptional business results. "Karl Schroeder's experience leading a group of 270 grocery stores in California, Nevada and Hawaii makes him the perfect example and mentor for this year's FIM class," Hermanns said.
