TasteAtlas is a food-hunting site that identifies local foods and drinks from around the world, then shows you the best restaurants to order them from.
It’s a clever idea. TasteAtlas combines its own research with that of many restaurant critics and food outlets, combining recommendations to create a “best of” list for each dish on the map. It’s like Rotten Tomatoes for food, Lifehacker writes.
Browse around the world map and find a dish that catches your eye. Zoom in on a region to see more dishes, specific ingredients and wines, teas and other drinks. Click a dish (or search for it) to learn about the dish’s origins and characteristics, and to see the world’s greatest places to order it. If there are multiple versions of a dish, TasteAtlas will let you refine your results.
For example, the page for pizza lists 53 varieties with their own pages. TasteAtlas knows eight places to order world-class Hawaiian pizza.
It’s the ultimate foodie tool: To be able to identify the best foods and know where you can eat them or order them to go is divine. Next up should be being able to know which supermarkets stock them for sale as well.
