SpartanNash promotes David Sisk to EVP
Distributor’s first chief customer officer holds key role in companywide growth strategy.
David Sisk, SpartanNash’s first chief customer officer, has been elevated to executive vice president.
Grand Rapids, Michigan-based SpartanNash announced the promotion on Wednesday. Sisk, previously senior vice president, oversees customer engagements for all national accounts, as well as independent and chain grocers, e-commerce retailers, the U.S. Defense Commissary Agency and military exchanges worldwide. He reports to SpartanNash President and CEO Tony Sarsam.
Sisk has served as chief customer officer since March 2022. He was appointed to the role, a newly created position, after serving as corporate senior vice president and president of the SpartanNash MDV military distribution business. He joined SpartanNash to lead that business in February 2020.

“David’s role is vital to delivering on our signature strength to be the most customer-focused, innovative food solutions company,” Sarsam said in a statement. “He and his team have greatly enhanced the support and services we provide to our customers, helping the company grow market share in our wholesale distribution business.”
Before coming to SpartanNash, Sisk was president and chief operating officer at OSC-WEBco, a West Palm Beach, Florida-based sales organization serving U.S. government channels, including the military. In his more than two years at OSC-WEBco, he had responsibility for global strategy and operations across all military divisions, representing $2.1 billion in sales for more than 100 retail categories. Prior to that, he had a 30-year career at Procter & Gamble, most recently as customer business development manager for the global military division. He also served in roles involving global shopper innovation and market strategy at P&G and as a senior executive on the teams for the Kmart and Kroger accounts.
Through its core food wholesaling business, SpartanNash distributes to all 50 states, supplying 145 corporate-run supermarkets in nine Midwestern states—which constitute its retail business unit—and over 2,100 independent grocery retailers nationwide. The company, with about 17,500 employees, also distributes to 160 military commissaries and over 400 exchanges in the United States and internationally.
