FULLERTON, Calif. — Albertsons kicked off its Healthy Eaters field trip program here yesterday. Children in kindergarten through fourth grade are eligible for the tours, designed to develop healthy eating habits. Albertons’ trained tour leaders impart simple concepts through interactive experiences to promote healthy choices to the younger children. Tours developed for third and fourth graders include specifics on reading labels, nutrients, fats and portion sizes. Children are sent home with free samples of healthy foods. “If children learn from a young age how to make the right food choices, they will be more likely to make those healthy choices throughout their lifetime,” said Heidi Diller, nutritionist for Albertsons, in a statement. “With the grocery store being one of the most visited destinations in our everyday lives, we have a tremendous opportunity to educate children and their families about nutrition, and show them how easy it is to live healthier.” Albertsons Healthy Eaters is offered in Idaho, Montana, Southern California, Southern Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming, in cities where Albertsons has grocery stores.
