CHANDLER, Ariz. — All this month, Bashas’ Eat Smart program is conducting gluten-free tasting events in selected stores.

A lot of the products sampled at the events are Bashas’ private-label items, but some brand manufacturers have donated products as well. Kozy Shack is one of them, donating its gluten-free, sugar-free puddings.

“Response to our first gluten-free event was fantastic,” Barbara Ruhs, Bashas’ registered dietitian, told SN. “I was there to answer questions and to promote our Eat Smart program. I had handouts that listed over a thousand Bashas’ private-label products that are gluten-free.”

Ruhs said she’s had more email responses regarding the gluten-free listings than for any other promotion she has ever conducted.
