Bitsy's Brainfood is encouraging awareness to help make Halloween safer for trick-or-treaters with food allergies. The brand is offering Bitsy's Brainfood Spooky Snacks for Halloween – a limited-edition box of allergy-friendly treats.

"For parents of kids with food allergies, Halloween can be genuinely scary," says Maggie Jones Patton, co-founder of Bitsy's Brainfood. "We support efforts to make people more aware of the potential risks for some children and we are stepping up to offer a treat option that is safer for those with food sensitivities, and yet delicious and fun for kids."

Each box of Bitsy's Brainfood Spooky Snacks contains 16 individually-wrapped treat packs of the brand's popular Smart Cookies in the flavors Orange Chocolate Beet and Sweet Potato Oatmeal Raisin. The cookies come in three-dimensional letter shapes, inspiring kids to play and learn.  Bitsy's Brainfood Spooky Snacks are made in a peanut-free and tree-nut free facility, making them an allergy-friendly, shareable snack for the classroom, parties or trick-or-treating.

Growing allergy prevalence has led to a growing awareness effort, including the Teal Pumpkin Project led by advocacy group Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE). The campaign encourages people to display a teal pumpkin outside their homes to indicate they offer suitable treats for kids with food allergies.

"We support the Teal Pumpkin campaign," says Alex Buckley Voris, Bitsy's Brainfood co-founder. "Both Maggie and I will have a teal pumpkin displayed this Halloween and will offer Bitsy's Brainfood Spooky Snacks as well as a non-food treat option for families managing food allergies."

All of Bitsy's Brainfood products are Non-GMO and Certified USDA Organic. Smart Cookies are an excellent source of vitamins A, B12, B6, D3 and folic acid, and a good source of calcium and iron. Made with organic whole grains, Smart Cookies come in three vegetable-packed flavors.

"Bitsy's Brainfood doesn't attempt to 'trick' kids into eating food that is good for them. Our brand mission is to help teach kids that good food can also be a tasty treat.  And we make it fun for kids to learn what's in their food and develop that interest at a young age," says Patton.

Bitsy's Brainfood Spooky Snacks are available for a limited time only at Target, Wegmans and online at Diapers.com. They come in 16-count packages of .8 oz. bags for a suggested retail price of $7.99.
