SCARBOROUGH, Maine — A food blogger has touted the benefits of Hannaford’s Guiding Stars program.
The retailer asked Nancy Oliveira, author of FitMamaEats, to buy a week's worth of groceries at Hannaford supermarkets and prepare several healthy meals for her family using its Guiding Stars program.
They gave her a gift card to buy the products. The blogger described the benefits of the Guiding Stars program: "If you're not a nutrition geek like me who reads every line of a food label before buying the product, the Guiding Stars can help steer you toward healthier food choices," she wrote. She also talked up the benefits of using Hannaford’s website as a shopping tool. All the recipes she prepared — including Maple Ginger Salmon with Curried Cauliflower and Rice — were found on Hannaford’s website in its Simply Healthy Meal Ideas section.
Oliveira described how once she selected the recipe, she clicked "add ingredients to list," which “generated a handy shopping list with exact amounts of ingredients I'd need for the recipe."
Oliveira is one of several bloggers Hannaford has enlisted to try, and then write about, its products. While all are given gift cards to purchase the necessary items, they are not under contract to write positive reviews.
