MATTHEWS, N.C. — Harris Teeter wants customers to interact with its nutritionist, and will pay them to do so.
All those who ask Beth Avery a health or well-being question are entered to win a weekly $25 Harris Teeter gift card. Questions must be asked via a link on Harris Teeter’s Facebook page.
Shopper Pamela Collier won last week’s $25 gift card for asking a question about sugar: “If my blood sugar is normal, should I be concerned about the amount of sugar in my diet?" Avery responded with an in-depth answer about the different types of sugars, and how consuming too much can lead to various health problems.
Among other questions:
• “What is the benefit of pairing up a carb and protein for meals and snacks? Does it metabolize better?”
• “Is it true that drinking a little tonic water before bed helps to prevent leg cramps?”
• “Is a gluten-free diet better for losing weight than low-carb or low-calorie diets?
