Through in-store events and meal suggestions themed around its Viva La Salud wellness program, Northgate Gonzalez Market has been helping parents make back to school season a little healthier this month.

Northgate began with a blog post outlining how to prepare exciting, healthy school lunches:

Children quickly tire of boring, repetitive lunches with the same-old sandwiches or sides. The new school year presents a golden opportunity to prepare new, healthy selections for your children, and Viva La Salud is here to help!

The blog post suggested getting kids involved in meal planning, and gave recommendations for “better for you” options. It also listed a recipe for Whole Grain Pancake Tacos.

On its Facebook page, Northgate promoted healthy snack ideas like grapes.

The retailer has been holding healthy back to school events in stores that include product tastings and cooking demos. Northgate also distributed flyers for parents and kids to take home.

With all the recent attention surrounding school lunches, now is the perfect time to engage customers on ways to pack more nutritious fare for their children.
