Whole Foods Recalls Candy That Doesn’t Identify Presence of Nuts

AUSTIN, Texas — Whole Foods Market here issued a recall of its 365 Organic Everyday Value Swiss Dark Chocolate Bars last week because they may contain undeclared almonds. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the product containing almonds was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of nuts. The error was the result of a temporary breakdown in the producer’s packaging process. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to nuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products, according to a statement issued by the retailer. The dark chocolate bars were sold in Whole Foods stores in Alabama, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin.
