The North American Meat Institute (NAMI) and FMI–The Food Industry Association have trimmed down this year’s 2022 Annual Meat Conference (AMC). In place of the in-person event, a virtual discussion on the Power of Meat will take place from 1 p.m. to 2:30 pm (EST) March 8. The event will be hosted by NAMI and FMI in partnership with Sealed Air.

“Despite the difficult decision to cancel the 2022 Annual Meat Conference, we recognize the importance of the annual Power of Meat report to this audience and are excited to present the findings virtually,” NAMI and FMI said on the conference’s website.

Presented by Anne-Marie Roerink, principal with 210 Analytics, the discussion will focus on analysis of the latest Power of Meat report and will be free to all previously registered attendees as well as NAMI and FMI members.

During the discussion attendees will learn more about the impact of changing consumer meat attitudes and behaviors in the context of the ongoing challenges in the meat retail industry as well as receive the most updated insights of shopper habits regarding meat and poultry pre-trip, in-store and at home.

Nonmembers can register for $99. Access to the full report will be available for purchase at the conclusion of the webinar.

The organizers of the 2022 Annual Meat Conference said they canceled this year's in-person event, which had been slated to take place Feb. 7-9 in Washington, D.C., "out of respect for the health of our communities and due to the attention and consideration our respective members are putting into their operations."

NAMI and FMI said on the conference's website that "we look forward to hosting our 2023 event March 6-8, 2023, at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas."
