Spartan Appoints 2 New Senior VPs
Stores here has named two new senior vice presidents.
Spartan, a leading cooperative wholesaler, late last month named Chuck Fosnaugh senior vice president of business development, a new title. He had been vice president of business development. With his new title, Fosnaugh also adds responsibility for customer-support services.
Bill May, formerly vice president of management information services, was named senior vice president of distribution and information services, also a new title. He adds responsibility for inbound logistics, outbound logistics and the Plymouth, Mich., warehouse.
Additionally, Jim Meyer, Spartan's chief financial officer, has added the title of senior vice president of corporate support services. He continues to oversee finance and accounting and the management of Spartan subsidiary Shield Insurance Services. He adds responsibility for human resources as well as Spartan subsidiaries L&L/Jiroch Distributing, Capistar and United Wholesale Co.
Fosnaugh, Meyer and May report to Patrick M. Quinn, president and chief executive officer of Spartan.
Denny Otto was named vice president of customer-support services, a new title. Otto, who was director of customer-support services, reports to Fosnaugh.
Supervalu Taps Category Director
MINNEAPOLIS -- Supervalu here has named Leland Dake director of category management, a new position.
Dake had been vice president of procurement at Supervalu's Southeast regional procurement office in Atlanta since 1992. He previously worked as director of merchandising at the former Atlanta division and as corporate manager of grocery.
Dake reports to George Chirtea, corporate vice president of merchandising.
Megafoods Names VP, Controller
MESA, Ariz. -- Megafoods Stores here has named Diane Klein vice president and controller.
She succeeds John McDougall, who was vice president of finance, secretary, treasurer and controller. McDougall retains the vice president of finance, secretary and treasurer titles and will concentrate on his responsibilities in finance, Megafoods said.
Klein was vice president and controller of Circle K, Phoenix. At Megafoods, she will assist in maximizing information from the company's newly installed IBM AS400 systems.
She reports to Jack Walker, chief financial officer of Megafoods.
Albrecht Adds Financial Analyst
AKRON, Ohio -- Fred W. Albrecht Grocery Co. here has named Scott Johnston a staff financial analyst, a new position.
Johnston works with the finance and accounting departments. His responsibilities include monthly financial reporting systems, developing new reporting formats, periodic analysis of various management reports and tracking the company's operating plan performance.
Johnston reports to Jim Nilsen, treasurer.
Additionally, Joseph D. Parsons, president and director of real estate for Albrecht Inc., the real-estate division of Albrecht Grocery Co., has been appointed to the grocery company's board of directors.
Fred W. Albrecht Grocery Co. operates 11 Acme Markets, eight Acme SuperCenters and 14 Y-Mart discount stores in Ohio.
