D.F. Dufek to Retire As Kroger Senior VP

Dufek has worked in the supermarket industry for 40 years, including 32 years with Kroger, the nation's largest supermarket retailer. He expects to remain active in food-industry projects, Kroger said in a statement.
The company has not yet determined Dufek's successor.
For the past two years, Dufek has been responsible for the development and implementation of strategies to improve the efficiency of Kroger's distribution system. Previously, he was a senior vice president with operating responsibility for half of Kroger's 11 food-store divisions. He also had been president of Kroger's Columbus (Ohio) Marketing Area and a group vice president.
In addition to his responsibilities at Kroger, Dufek has been a co-chairman of the Best Practices Committee for the industry's Efficient Consumer Response initiative since 1993.
The Food Marketing Institute, one of the trade associations sponsoring the ECR project, said last week it is not looking to replace Dufek as co-chairman of the Best Practices Committee. The committee's work is beginning to wind down, an FMI spokeswoman told SN.
Richfood Appoints Controller
RICHMOND, Va. -- Richfood here has named John V. Marklin vice president and controller. Marklin most recently was vice president of finance for the Reading, Pa., division of Supervalu and prior to that was the controller of Supervalu's Andover, Mass., distribution operation. He previously worked for Wetterau, Hazelwood, Mo., before joining Supervalu upon its acquisition of Wetterau in 1992.
At Richfood, Marklin succeeds Martha Ward, who has left the company and relocated to a different area of the country with her family. He reports to John E. Stokely, executive vice president of finance and administration.
Richfood is the nation's fifth-largest publicly owned wholesaler, supplying about 750 stores in the mid-Atlantic area.
Affiliated of Florida Names VP
TAMPA, Fla. -- Affiliated of Florida here has named John F. Trivento vice president and general manager, a new position.
Trivento was executive vice president of the retailer-owned cooperative, with responsibility for operations. He continues to oversee operations in his new position.
The position of executive vice president will not be filled, Affiliated said.Trivento reports to Donald M. Kolvenbach, president and chief executive officer of the wholesaler.
Affiliated of Florida has more than 100 members operating 150 stores in Florida. It also supplies military accounts in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.
Stater Appoints Marketing VP
COLTON, Calif. -- Stater Bros. Markets here has named Tom Reingrover senior vice president of marketing, a new position.
Reingrover was vice president of marketing. He continues to oversee all aspects of Stater's marketing and merchandising and adds responsibility for the chain's grocery, meat, produce, bakery and health and beauty care operations. He continues to report to Richard Moseley, group senior vice president of marketing. Stater Bros. operates 111 supermarkets in southern California.
Eagle Seeks Successor to VP
MILAN, Ill. -- Eagle Food Centers here is seeking a successor to Phil Murphy, who has resigned as senior vice president and director of advertising and marketing.
The successor will come from outside the company, Pat Petitti, president and chief executive officer, said.
He declined to give a reason for Murphy's departure.
