CINCINNATI — Kroger Co. will install electric vehicle charging stations at eight stores in North Texas by late June, according to a report by Dallasnews.com.

In 2012, the charging service will be free but next year a “toll tag” payment system will be used, the report said.

Kroger has scheduled installations at three Dallas stores and individual stores in Fort Worth, Arlington, Frisco, Irving and Plano.

Kroger previously tested charging stations at a store in the Roanoke, Va., area, according to Roanoke.com.
