CINCINNATI — Kroger Co. and the University of Cincinnati plan to collaborate on a three-year research project to study the impact of Kroger’s pharmacy clinical service programs on the health of patients’ lives, according to a report Thursday in the Cincinnati Business Courier.

Kroger is funding the project with a $600,000 grant, the report said. The research will consist of quarterly data analysis of Kroger’s patient-centered programs, including health screenings, smoking cessation, medication therapy management and diabetes coaching.

The focus, according to the report, will be on diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

The results of the research could lead to an expansion of clinical services to other Kroger pharmacies throughout the country, the report said. The grant also includes funding for a two-year fellowship in community pharmacy research.
