Produce Marketing Association's (PMA) new board of directors took office as the Fresh Summit convention and expo kicked off in Orlando, Fla., with new Chairman David Marguleas, EVP of Coachella, Calif.-based Sun World International, being joined on the board by six other officers and 26 directors.

Marguleas said he was looking forward to working with PMA and its volunteers to bring enhanced value to its global membership.

“In the year ahead, look for more programs and resources from PMA to help members create demand and stimulate preference for fresh produce and floral, connect leaders globally, enhance produce safety, and invest in their employees," he said.

PMA CEO Cathy Burns added its volunteer leaders make it a "stronger organization" and "truly an association by the members for the members."

“I cannot thank the retiring board directors enough for being so generous of their time and thought leadership in helping to shape PMA strategies and programs that deliver year-round value to members," she said.

Additionally, PMA gave leadership awards to Dave Corsi, VP of produce and floral for Wegmans; and Joe Pezzini, president and CEO of Ocean Mist Farms. Corsi received the Bryan E. Silbermann Collaboration Award for exceptional volunteer commitment to PMA and the fresh and floral industry, and Pezzini received the Robert L. Carey Leadership Award for outstanding collaborative leadership.

“These two gentlemen are always willing to bring to the table their talent, resources and most importantly their time to move our association and industry forward,” Burns said. “Without a doubt, the global fresh produce and floral industry is stronger because they are part of this community, and their ideas and insights have helped move PMA closer toward fulfilling its vision of building a healthier world.”
