SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Price Chopper Supermarkets is recognizing war veterans in several ways this Memorial Day.

All veterans get a free 12-ounce coffee and a doughnut on Monday, May 28, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

In the floral department, the retailer is selling special bouquets for $7.99, a portion of which will be donated to the Honor Flight Network, a non-profit that transports veterans to Washington, D.C., so that they have the opportunity to visit the nation’s memorials.

Price Chopper has also asked shoppers to send in a photo and a short story about a veteran they know. The winning entry will get a $50 gift card. All photos will be displayed on Price Chopper’s Facebook page over the Memorial Day weekend.
