September 26, 2022
In this week’s recap of the Top 10 most popular Supermarket News articles, Market Basket named as top inflationary-times grocer ranked as the top story. Market Basket beat out discount giants Aldi, Dollar General, Walmart and others as the top-ranked grocer for inflationary times in an inflation-focused edition of the dunnhumby Retailer Preference Index (RPI). The dunnhumby RPI Special Inflation Edition 2022 report, released Tuesday, determined that the grocery bill represents the largest line item in the household budget that consumers can immediately change amid record price inflation. In turn, customer data science specialist dunnhumby said, the retailers best-positioned to save shoppers money are generating visits faster and building stronger emotional ties with customers during inflationary periods.
