MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu here on Wednesday said it has named Procter & Gamble veteran Michael Moore (right) as its new chief marketing officer, succeeding Julie Dexter Berg, who is leaving the company.
Moore, 47, joined Supervalu last year as business transformation officer after a 24-year career with P&G, most recently as director of P&G's grocery retail group.
In his new role he will report to Craig Herkert, president and chief executive officer, Supervalu. He will lead all of the company's marketing activities, including overseeing customer and brand strategy, advertising, customer loyalty, and research and analytics.
"Michael has a terrific understanding of the food industry and the challenges we face as a grocery retailer in today's environment," said Herkert in a prepared statement. "I am confident that he will move quickly to build marketing programs that are effective and efficient while ensuring that we continue to drive traffic and sales through innovative and engaging consumer marketing programs.
Dexter Berg "decided this week to leave the company and return to the West Coast," Supervalu said in a statement. She had joined the company in March 2010 after working as a consultant.
