NORMAN, Okla. — Natural Grocers is planning to open its first Oklahoma outlet here late this month, the company said on its website.

The Lakewood, Colo.-based natural and organic chain, which has about 65 stores in Colorado, Texas, Utah, Wyoming and New Mexico, is also planning to expand into Kansas later this year, with stores planned for Lawrence and Wichita, and into Missouri, with a planned opening in Columbia in September.

"Norman is a great college town that is currently underserved in regards to natural food and organic groceries," said Kemper Isely, co-president of Natural Grocers, in a report in the Norman (Okla.) Transcript.

The Main Street store will occupy 20,000 square feet in a former Ace Hardware location, the report said.
