NGA Hires Callahan in Gov. Affairs

ARLINGTON, Va. — National Grocers Association said it has named Brian D. Callahan manager of government affairs.

ARLINGTON, Va. — National Grocers Association said it has named Brian D. Callahan manager of government affairs.

His role at NGA will primarily focus on key issues that impact independent grocers in the areas of employment/labor, food safety, transportation and nutrition benefit programs. Callahan most recently had been consulting on international trade and state-level human resource and labor issues. Before that he worked for the American Bakers Association, where he was manager, federal government relations covering health care, labor and transportation issues.

"I am pleased to welcome Brian to the NGA staff," said Peter Larkin, president and chief executive officer, NGA. "His solid background in politics, legislative and regulatory policy will be very beneficial to NGA's independent retailers and wholesalers nationwide. We are confident that he will be a valuable asset to our government affairs team and will have an immediate, positive effect on our efforts on Capitol Hill."
