KEASBEY, N.J. — ShopRite has lowered the qualifying amount for its free turkey promotion from $400 to $300 as a way to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.

In announcing the change, the retailer noted that many people were unable to get to the supermarket following the storm and so might not spend as much during the qualifying period.

SN poll: How is your company contributing to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts?

From Oct. 14-Nov. 22, ShopRite Price Plus club cardholders that spend a total of $300 will receive a free frozen turkey, ham, turkey breast, kosher chicken, Stouffer’s family size lasagna or Tofurky. Club members can also choose to receive a per pound savings on any other turkey, turkey breast, ham or turducken.

Qualifying customers can pick up the free items through Nov. 22.
