RIDGEWOOD, N.Y. -- Western Beef here, a group of warehouse-style supermarkets in the New York metro area, announced record earnings in the fourth quarter ended Dec. 30.

.3 million from $71.2 million for 13 weeks, and 6.5% to $292 million from $274.1 million for 52 weeks. The company attributed the sales increases to a full year's results from stores opened in 1993.

Western Beef operates 14 warehouse-style supermarkets primarily in lower income neighborhoods in New York City and Long Island.

Three more sites are scheduled to open by June. On Staten Island, Western Beef will take over a store vacated this winter by King Kullen, Westbury, N.Y. The other two stores are planned for Brooklyn and Long Island.
