Sprouts Farmers Market will open a new location in Las Vegas on May 5, becoming the grocer’s 15th store in Nevada, the retailer announced Wednesday.

The fast-growing retailer’s newest store will open at 6506 N. Losee Road in North Las Vegas with a ribbon cutting at 6:45 a.m.

“We are thrilled to have another Sprouts Farmers Market taking roots here in the City of North Las Vegas,” Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown said in a statement. “We have seen tremendous growth and development over the last decade.”

North Las Vegas residents were seeking more sit-down restaurants, as well as healthy food and grocery options, Goynes-Brown said.

“The timing is perfect for the addition of this Sprouts location; it will provide convenient, healthy food access to Northeast residents, those utilizing Craig Road, our on-base military members and more,” she said.

The store will feature local produce from farmers such as Nevada-based Peri and Sons Farms, Sprouts said.

To celebrate the grand opening, the first 200 shoppers opening weekend will receive a free reusable bag filled with product samples. There will also be seasonal produce tasting, games and face painting for the kids, as well as produce carving.

Shoppers can take advantage of a 20% discount by texting “VEGAS” to 777-688 and scanning their app at checkout, Sprouts said. And they’ll be incentivized to return to the store with ongoing discounts for several weeks.

The new Las Vegas Sprouts will donate “groceries that are no longer fit for sale but remain perfectly edible and nutrient rich” to the Three Square Food Bank, the grocer said.

Phoenix-based Sprouts is known for its extensive produce department and robust inventory that caters to specialized diets.

Earlier this week, Sprouts announced plans to open a new store in Westminster, Maryland, late next year.

The retailer, which currently operates about 386 stores in 23 states, also recently opened grocery stores in Merced, California and The Villages, Florida, with another opening planned for Manassas, Virginia, on May 12.
