Tops Friendly Markets is opening six stores this week that it recently acquired from Stop & Shop and Hannaford Supermarkets.

The locations will open in Rhinebeck, New Paltz, Wappingers Falls, LaGrangeville and Carmel, N.Y., and Gardner, Mass.

“Having had the opportunity to personally meet with associates, customers, and speak to members of the community, we are already receiving a warm welcome which is exciting,” said Frank Curci, Tops Markets’ chairman and CEO, in a statement. “We are looking forward to having these stores, the associates and the surrounding communities become part of the Tops family; however in order to fully transition the stores, we will need to be closed for approximately 36 hours prior to the stores opening as Tops. After that for both our customers and us, it will be business as usual.”

Prescriptions at the stores will be automatically transferred over to the Tops Pharmacy. Former Stop & Shop customers' loyalty cards will automatically be linked to the Tops BonusPlus card and former Hannaford customers will be issued a Tops BonusPlus card that they will see in the mail this week.
