Weis Markets has begun the “complete makeover” of three of its stores in Frederick, Md. The stores, located on Old Camptown Road/Route 40, Thomas Johnson Drive and Spring Ridge Parkway, are being remodeled and upgraded to offer customers more services.

“These projects, which we plan to complete in the fall, will be the supermarket equivalent of a complete makeover,” said Ron Bonacci, VP of advertising and marketing. “When we are done, our stores will offer more variety, service and convenience.”

The work at the Old Camptown Road/Route 40 store will be completed in two phases. Phase one includes an expanded pharmacy and frozen departments; a new store-within-a-store offering a wide variety of organic and natural products; new self-checkout lanes; and all-new decor. Phase two includes the construction of a six-pump fuel center adjoining the store.

The Thomas Johnson Drive store will have new decor; an upgraded bakery and deli; a new store-within-a-store offering a wide variety of organic and natural products; and an expanded pharmacy.

The Spring Ridge Parkway store will have new decor; expanded pharmacy, deli/foodservice, frozen and dairy departments; and new self-checkout lanes.

Sunbury, Pa.-based Weis Markets also announced a similar remodel of its Shamokin, Pa., store, located on Walnut Street. The remodel includes the expansion of the store’s deli, pharmacy and frozen departments; new decor; increased variety throughout the store; and an upgraded exterior, all of which are to be completed this fall. In 2021, the retailer will build a six-pump fuel center adjoining the store.

Weis Markets has 197 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia and Virginia.
