Bernauer Steps Down From Executive Duties at Walgreens

DEERFIELD, Ill. -- David W. Bernauer stepped down from his executive duties at Walgreen Co., yesterday although he is continuing as chairman of the board.

DEERFIELD, Ill. -- David W. Bernauer stepped down from his executive duties at Walgreen Co., yesterday although he is continuing as chairman of the board. Bernauer started his career with Walgreens in 1966, has been a member of the company's board of directors since 1999, he was named CEO in January 2003, and became chairman and CEO in January 2003. Jeffrey A. Rein will continue as president and chief executive officer, and is assuming Bernauer's executive duties. Rein became CEO in July 2006.
