NEW YORK — In-store clinic operator CheckUps here closed 23 clinics operating in Wal-Mart Stores in Florida and three other states. Wal-Mart, Bentonville, Ark., which confirmed the closings to Reuters, began testing in-store health clinics in September 2005. CheckUps stopped paying some of its nurse practitioners in December. It also owes about $108,000 to Medtracker Personnel, a Louisiana-based employment agency that provided nurses to CheckUps clinics, Stephanie Granda, a lawyer for Medtracker Personnel told the New York Times.
