SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Price Chopper Supermarkets is disposing of outdated medications for its customers in 66 stores with pharmacies through Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008. The program is a service to consumers, giving them the opportunity to help lessen the effects that these medications have on water supplies and the environment, which they can enter through sewage if not disposed of properly. "This is an opportunity for consumers with unwanted meds to protect their family, protect the community and protect the environment," said Vincent Mainella, vice president of pharmacy. Customers should bring back the medications in their original container, but remove any personal information from the label. "Price Chopper may expand availability of this program beyond Feb. 2, 2008 if it is met with success," said Mainella.
