JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Winn-Dixie Stores is testing $1-a-day DVD rental kiosks in 15 stores in the Jacksonville area, according to the Jacksonville Business Journal. The supermarket has partnered with Redbox Automated Retail, Oakbrook, Ill., to provide kiosks in the selected stores. Publix Super Markets Inc., based in Lakeland, Fla., is also testing the Redbox machines at stores in the Miami area, but Publix spokesman Dwaine Stevens said the company had no plans to expand the test to Publix stores in the Jacksonville area, the report said. Winn-Dixie’s vice president of general merchandise, Dewayne Rabon, said Winn-Dixie will evaluate the success of the kiosks at existing locations before determining the next step. So far, some of the top Redbox rentals at Winn-Dixie have been “Knocked Up,” “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry” and “Transformers.”
