ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Wegmans Food Markets will host part two of its first-ever “Everything Organic” festival Saturday.

The event follows a similar one held last Saturday to highlight more than 200 Wegmans-brand organic items, including samples of multigrain baguettes with sliced turkey, farmed shrimp with bouillabaisse sauce and cooked organic chicken breast.

Sales of organic products have increased 29% at Wegmans from 2010 to 2011, with organic milk, eggs, butter, yogurt, juice and Organic Mild Salsa and Tortilla Chips made from organic corn, among the bestsellers.

“We believe this shows that many families with children like organic foods, and that customers want snacks that are not just fun to eat, but are also better for the environment,” said Denise Pearson, marketing group manager at Wegmans.
