Lidl is planning to build a new supermarket in Yonkers, N.Y., according to reporting from a New York news outlet, The Yonkers Ledger.

While its U.S. operations are headquartered in Arlington, Va., the German-based grocer has a presence across 32 countries and employs over 341,000 people. This opening is part of its strategy to continue expanding in the U.S.

The 29,208-square-foot supermarket will combine smaller stores within an existing  Central Plaza Shopping Center. The plan includes the reuse of a space previously occupied by David’s Bridal, Avenue, and Marshalls Shoe Shop.

Changes to the surface parking lot would also be required to enhance the flow of vehicles and pedestrians, while a single loading dock will be designated solely for the supermarket’s use, The Yonkers Ledger reports.

A Lidl spokesperson told lohud.com that it’s too early to offer a specific timeline for the store’s opening, but a store rendering has already been completed.
