Sprouts Farmers Market now has a new distribution center in Fullerton, Calif.
The 337,000-square-foot facility will allow the grocer to service 95 stores within a 250-mile radius in southern California.
The center also includes a fruit ripening room, tracking for future solar panel installation and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, and will save about 725,000 miles in transportation emissions.
“The facility not only augments our efforts to expand across California and the country, but also strengthens our commitment to environmental sustainability,” said Jack Sinclair, chief executive officer of Sprouts.
Sprouts currently has distribution centers in Aurora, Colo., Union City, Calif., Glendale, Ariz., Orlando, Fla., Wilmer, Texas, and East Point, Ga.
As part of the grand opening, Sprouts, headquartered in Phoenix, awarded $65,000 to support new school gardening and nutrition education programs for two elementary schools in Fullerton.
