Kruidvat, a Netherlands-based health and beauty retailer with about 900 stores in The Netherlands and Belgium, is planning to build a new automated warehouse and dynamic picking system for retail distribution in Heteren, Netherlands, Witron Integrated Logistics here announced yesterday. DPS is a Witron-developed solution for fast and efficient picking of small-sized and tote-compatible items. DPS will enable Kruidvat to significantly reduce the costs per item picked, Witron said. By the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2007, the new warehouse and picking solution is expected to handle around 3,000 items out of the Kruidvat assortment for a performance of approximately 130,000 pick units at peak days.
