BOSTON -- A former frozen food buyer for Stop & Shop Cos. and a former food broker have been charged in federal court here with mail fraud for allegedly participating in schemes to cheat food manufacturers. The former buyer is Edgar Dawe, 65, who was frozen food buyer for the Quincy, Mass.-based chain from 1988 to 1992. He is accused of receiving more than $30,000 of food supplier funds over a four-year period through overbilling of suppliers in connection with a promotion. SN was unable to reach Dawe for comment.
