GS1 US Elects Douglas to Replace Wegman as Board Chairman

GS1 US, the organization responsible for setting bar code, data synchronization, RFID and other standards, announced yesterday the election of J. Alexander M. "Sandy" Douglas, Jr., president of Coca-Cola North America, as chairman of the board of governors.

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — GS1 US here, the organization responsible for setting bar code, data synchronization, RFID and other standards, announced yesterday the election of J. Alexander M. "Sandy" Douglas, Jr., president of Coca-Cola North America, as chairman of the board of governors. He takes over the position held since 2003 by Danny Wegman, chief executive officer of Wegmans Food Markets. Wegman will remain a member of the GS1 US Board of Governors. “Sandy is a widely respected champion of global standards and innovation, and he is uniquely qualified to take GS1 US to the next level,” Wegman said in a statement.
